Edisto Gun Dogs © came into existence from our love of dogs and training them to work in the outdoors.  Our family has loved, trained and hunted many retrievers of varying intelligence, temperament, retrieving ability and hunting drive over the last four decades.  Although many of those dogs have achieved accolades in formalized hunt tests, our desire first and foremost was to have a dog that would not only be an obedient, well-behaved family pet but would also join us as an enthusiastic hunting companion in our outdoor adventures.  

     Our family has owned and trained Labrador Retrievers for 30 years.  With retirement and our children getting older, our family has recently entered a new season in life.  Our gracious Lord has allowed what once was an enjoyable pastime, to turn into an exciting opportunity to professionally train retrievers for other hunters and their families.  We love dogs and we love training them!

        Watching a dog hunt hard and retrieve the intended game is quite impressive and very rewarding for its handler.  At Edisto Gun Dogs it is our desire and goal to give your dog the tools necessary to make that happen for you, too.  We strive to provide personalized one-on-one training for your dog.  We do this by only allowing a few dogs into our training program at a time.  This allows for us to focus on each dog’s unique strengths and abilities, while tending to the areas that need attention and development.  Each dog receives the time, attention, training and correction that is needed to produce a responsive hunting partner and respectful family member. Consistency and repetition are key to creating an obedient dog and mastery of skills and techniques does not happen overnight.  We have the training expertise and are committed to taking the time necessary to ensure your dog reaches its full potential.
